- Russell was born 3/20/86
- Father’s name was Chief Red Cloud
- Russell’s real name is Red Clouds Rustler
- Russell’s breed was a paint horse
- When he was full grown Russell was 15 hands tall and weighed about 1,300 lbs.
- Russell died in Nov of 2014 and was buried in Newman, California
History of Russell
- When Russell was young he was in riding competitions where he won many ribbons.
- Later, Russell became a certified police mount. Russell worked with the Sheriff’s Posse and the Modesto Police Department.
- He really liked kids. Russell was full of life and required someone who knew how to ride. He would test you to find out and was very strong willed.
- Russell would be in the 4th of July parade and would be on duty during Christmas time at the mall.
- Russell had no problem with explosions but did not like smoke but would be ok as long as you talked to him. One time he was stabbed in the hindquarter and never flinched. Russell has a plaque at the Modesto Police Department for his police service.
- Russell was retired in 2006. He was put out to pasture and enjoyed his final years until his death.

To Russell the horse whose faithful service as a part of the law enforcement departments in our community helped keep the peace and put bad guys in jail.
